Canyon of the Eagles provides outdoor, nature-based activities and experiences for our guests. We are able to host you with plenty of space to adhere to social distancing guidelines. From the camping to private lodging choices to the miles of trails or kayak rentals on Lake Buchanan, we have limitless options available to offer you a secluded vacation experience.
Please rest assured, Canyon of the Eagles follows ALL recommendations from county and state governmental agencies, from indoor seating restrictions in our restaurant to recommended cleaning standards and social distancing requirements.
visitors & overnight accommodations
- RESORT GUEST ROOMS: All guest rooms are available for overnight rental except our double queen rooms with the shared porch, unless members of the same family are occupying each room. We require a two-night minimum and three-night minimum on holidays. Walk-in bookings are not permitted at this time.
- RV SITES: Our RV site has a maximum capacity of 22 sites, with no more than 10 persons per site from the same family or household. The bathhouse is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. There are a two-night minimum stay and a three-night minimum on holidays. Walk-in bookings and one-night stays are not permitted at this time.
- CAMPSITES: Both Chimney Slough (CS) and Tanner Point (TP) are open. There can be no more than 10 persons per site from the same family or household. Visitors must bring their own water and sanitizer. No walk-in bookings are not permitted at this time.
- DAY USE: Saturday day passes are currently limited due to COVID-19 capacity guidelines.
- Visitors are required to practice social distancing and bring their own water and sanitizer.
PLEASE NOTE: Day use passes are limited Saturdays or holiday weekends (Saturday and Sunday) due to park capacities in compliance with state mandates.
PARK AMENITIES
- OVERLOOK RESTAURANT: The restaurant offers daily indoor and outdoor dining, with the indoor dining at 50% normal seating at this time. In addition, we are happy to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner for takeout and curbside. We serve beer and wine daily and cocktails on weekends and holidays. Box lunches are available to order at Overlook restaurant, please see our front desk for details. Dinner reservations are required, and lunch reservations are recommended. Until further notice, the restaurant hours of operation are:
8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday
8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday
7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday
7:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday
We practice social distancing and seating is limited to a maximum of 10 persons per table. Seating is limited to overnight park guests only on holidays or blackout dates. Live music may be offered outdoors on weekends with tables and chairs spaced for social distancing.
- EAGLES NEST LOUNGE: The lounge will remain open through the takeout window on Friday (only) from Friday 4 pm-close and Saturday from 2-close.
- MEETING FACILITIES: Our meeting and wedding venues remain available and social distancing is practiced.
- OUTDOOR SWIMMING: The resort outdoor swimming pool is closed until further notice. Our lakefront and beach areas are available and offer appropriate social distancing.. Boats or water equipment cannot be docked or stored overnight on our dock.
- THE PERCH: This recreational room has a television, restrooms, and an ice machine for resort guests. The lending library and games were removed until further notice.
- NATURE TRAILS: Miles of nature trails are groomed and ready for your enjoyment, for any age or ability. The painted buntings are frequently sighted along with other species of birds and wildlife. Some trails are not available due to the nesting season for our endangered birds.
- LABYRINTH AND MONARCH WAY STATION: Don’t miss our lakeside labyrinth and the migrating of our Monarch Butterfly. We’re a designated Monarch Way Station for their migration and butterflies are seen throughout the park.
- EAGLE EYE OBSERVATORY (EEO):*UPDATE* Due to increased popularity, a minimum 2-week advanced reservation is recommended. Until further notice, EEO is available for PRIVATE viewing only. You may call or sign-up at guest services and private bookings are booked Wednesday through Sunday. For our overnight guests, the fee is $75 for a 50-minute private viewing with our astronomer for up to 10 persons from the same family or household. Advance reservations are required. EEO is available to non-resort guests Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday at the rate of $125 for groups up to 10 persons. Reservations are required.
- KAYAK RENTAL: Half-day and Full day rentals are available for single or tandem kayaks. The price is $75 for a full-day rental from 9 am-3 pm. Advance reservations are required through guest services.
- Please note, any of the above items are subject to change based on governmental mandates.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Please note our hours of operation for Guest Services and the Overlook Restaurant.
In the meantime, we encourage you to follow the guidelines below during your visit and stay:
- Protect your health and that of others by following state and local orders related to the Covid-19. Please follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- Masks or face coverings are required by state mandate while in the park; in the common areas, guest services area, gift shop, observatory, and any park facilities. Masks are not required on our trails or at the lakefront.
- Please practice social distancing throughout the park and facilities.
- Six (6) foot social distancing is required and enforced, except for families or the same household.
- No groups larger than eight (10) persons are allowed at this time in RV, campsites, or public areas.
- On weekends, holidays, and popular days, day-use traffic may be restricted, based on parking spots and usage of beaches areas, trails or park facilities. We encourage you to call in advance to ensure admittance.
- All guests will be required to complete a COVID-19 Checklist at the gatehouse when entering the park.
- Please be courteous and respectful towards other guests, practice good social habits and hygiene, and wash your hands often.
- If you’re not feeling well, STAY HOME! We’ll look forward to seeing you when you are well.
Please rest assured, our priority is to keep this park virus-free! Our staff is monitored daily and healthy guests are welcome any time. As a reminder, peak dates and holidays are popular and booking fast for the remainder of this year and into 2021. If you want to get away, don’t wait, we may not have space for you.
