Join us for an educational Twilight Program that takes place before our Dark Sky Program.

There is no telescope viewing during the Twilight Program. This program consists of educational video and images of the night sky, as well as special target discussions on what you will see at the Dark Sky Program.

Complimentary for in-house guests.

$7/per person park entry fee for day-use guests (ages 11 and over).

SKY WATCHER EVENTS ~ MARCH

Hello star gazers. An astronomical phenomenon called “Zodiacal Light” during dark nights in the spring is a wonderful thing to view. The first week of March provides an opportunity to view this special light when the Moon is below the horizon all night. Look west where the Sun sets after the last twilight is gone at dusk. There will be a faint glow that is cone-shaped which is broad based and points nearly straight up from the western horizon. It will be a bit fainter than the Milky Way. But easily visible at a dark site away from city lights.

This Zodiacal Light is the result of sunlight shining on trillions of dust particles scattered about the planets in the solar system with the resulting reflected light reaching your eyes.

During March the Beehive Cluster (M44) is overhead in the constellation Cancer (the Crab). It is a beautiful deep sky open cluster with several hot blue giant stars and is about 600 light years away.
